Fontana is one of my favorite places to fish Old Dog,I used to go to Knoxville and head east now I go in from the Bryson City end too.Pulling a boat on the dragon is a recipe for disaster now.I liked it before it was "discovered".I stayed at the old motel at Deals Gap before it burned. Now when we go down we usually stay at Fontans village or in one of the cabins. An interesting side note ,My grandmothers log house was dismantled and moved to the right side of the road Between Deals gap and Bryson City on the road that winds along the lake.Near Tuskegee? I think is the name of the little community.

Just don't forget the leaves are a fixin to be there in those curvy mountain twisties......

|Ceal||I'll have to remember that if I ever take a trip on my bike... There are no trees to worry about here, but we do have a LOT of sand though.|

That's a problem for me each fall. I live 4.1 miles from the two lane road at the bottom of the hill. In that mostly tree lined road is 55 turns with a rise and fall in the road elevation of over 800 feet. It's even worse when it's wet.

|ladybiker706||We rode a short part of Moonshiner 28 yesterday. Got off the Dragon and rode to Bryson City for lunch. A few leaves but nothing to worry about yet. Traffic was light on 28 but pretty busy on the Dragon. Now we've got to head back to flatland South Texas|
