hahaha none of those in town, only on the highway and mostly away from the highway itself lol. That would certainly be a painful encounter! |

Fontana is one of my favorite places to fish Old Dog,I used to go to Knoxville and head east now I go in from the Bryson City end too.Pulling a boat on the dragon is a recipe for disaster now.I liked it before it was "discovered".I stayed at the old motel at Deals Gap before it burned. Now when we go down we usually stay at Fontans village or in one of the cabins. An interesting side note ,My grandmothers log house was dismantled and moved to the right side of the road Between Deals gap and Bryson City on the road that winds along the lake.Near Tuskegee? I think is the name of the little community. |

![]() I have also worked at Fontana dam and drove the Dragon in the 80s, had a new Supra then and no traffic, that was fun, but 2-3yrs ago went up with some cycle ridin buddies and rode the Dragon, a rat race now, I can and will find better places to ride and leave the Dragon to the crotch rocket riders... ![]() ![]() Have a good one...Old Dog... |

Ceal | I'll have to remember that if I ever take a trip on my bike... There are no trees to worry about here, but we do have a LOT of sand though. |

That's a problem for me each fall. I live 4.1 miles from the two lane road at the bottom of the hill. In that mostly tree lined road is 55 turns with a rise and fall in the road elevation of over 800 feet. It's even worse when it's wet. Ron |
