Old Dog The Honda VT 700 I had was exactly like the red one here... http://www.kabamus.com/cars/cycle/VT700C.html ... I had a piture or 2 but neither one was anywhere near showing a fuel guage, but I swear I thought it had one...... CRS for sure...
It was a very good bike except for the rectifier problems I had... I sold it with 23k on the clock after about a years ridin, it seemed like new except for the one prob. I mentioned...

SidecarJon what about the BMW R39?shaft drive, 250 cc single cylinder

The bike at the top was originally a DKW before WW2(the name was changed to mz after the war) built in east germany and various companies acquired the design for the engine in war reparations, BSA built the Bantam, Harley built the Hummer and various others probabely also built other models that I have forgotten about(and can't be bothered to look up!)

I believe you are right, I don't think the VT500 has a fuel gauge. Honda gave it a sixth gear instead. LOL

mitch didn't kaw put a shaft on the 305 the last year they made em in the early 80s. i know it was belt when it first came out but seems like a buddy had one in 84 or 85 with a shaft.

I know why they are so special Mike. They have that 6th gear we have all been looking for!!

I think your buddy`s 500 is a 1984 model, as it has red side covers, and no sissy bar type backrest.
The `83 model is the only one with chrome side covers.

The `85 and `86 both have backrests.

I see this bike also has a fork brace. The Magna 65 has one too. How come Ma Kawi never figured out the VN750 should have a fork brace, when Honda has been putting them on midsized and larger cruisers for at least this long?

LibertyPilot Here's my buddy's Honda 500. Check out the pipe. I rode it when I was teaching him to ride. This thing is quick and it's FUN!

Old Dog DT-I had a 250 Pursang and that sucker would run in its time...lol... I loved that bike till I leaned it out and blew it, got it right after the 250 Ossa Mick Andrews Replica, which about broke my back when I rode it...lol...
BTW-I have a friend that did restore the older ones (Bultacos) and also raced in some vintage races, but he had a heart attact 2-3 yrs ago and I don't know if he is still into it or not...
Exactly what are they and their condition and I will contact him and fin out...

My GL500 Honda is shaft. Very nice old ride, full air suspension/prolink.

It gets 'classic' plates this year - never have to buy another tab again!
