Sorry to hear it Ron but I also think you're right. Well, that patience will no doubt pay off down the road and you'll get something you really want for the right price. Besides, you already have a great bike now so no worries!

Out of curiousity, is it the kids first bike? If yeah why doesn't your buddy offer to trade your 750 for his 900 and agree on an appropriate amount of cash to make up any difference. Then the kid could start on the 750 instead of the 900. That's what I would do anyway.

Either way your buddy should have thought it through and been up front with you. "Hey I'm thinkin' 'bout giving the 900 to my kid but if I don't, you're up." That's all he had to say.

Another choice would be a Honda Magna/Sabre 750. They have a V4 and are as smooth as silk. Pretty good aftermarket and following for them too.

I totally agree with your analyses. People do stuff like that due to subconscious or conscious thoughts ie. not wanting to really sell the bike etc. Or they are greedy and clueless. In the end though, you are making good thought out decisions and don't let your emotions jack with your choice too much. Mu Shin my friend..."No mind".

A younger friend bought his first bike, identical to this one, last summer, and put some Cobra pipes on it recently. He just got back from a trip at least 800 miles, one way, out to the west coast at Victoria, BC. I know he has made a few trips of several hundred miles both last year and this season too. He is a big boy, over 6 foot tall and #250+, and seems to quite like the bike.

I`m looking forward to going for a ride with him next year, and letting him take a ride on my 750. ( I hope that won`t ruin the the 900 for him. lol)

Ron_G Hey Liberty,
Congrats on the new home. You're going to love Clinton, it's a great town. No word on the 900. Bernie picked up his meanie last weekend but hasn't given me a price on the 900 yet, and I was travelling a bit this week and I'll be out a bit next week so I haven't really had time to pursue it. But it's all good, I've learned patience is a valuable asset.

LibertyPilot Hey Denny, when I found the meanie on Craigs List it was at a Subaru dealership. They didn't know bikes at all let alone Vulcans. They had a 7,000 dollar bike listed at 5,700. Because they didn't know bikes, I was able to tell them there was tons of things wrong with it. I got a 2002 mean streak with 5k on the clock for 4,700. If the 900 is the only bike there, you might be in good shape. I would definitely check it out.

After I took the meanie for a test ride, I told the dude the carbs were all gummed up and I'm gonna have to take the engine apart, clean the hell out of it, and put it back together. I told him it's going to cost me at least 500 bucks. The meanie's FI dude, there are no carbs. Juss sayin'...

denny6006 I saw a blue one that had been traded in at a local car lot. I believe I'll check it out .I noticed it already had a set of aftermarket pipes on a drive by,I am interested, pretty slick looking.
