I don't know about better, but you can make your own for cheaper, and it is supposedly bulletproof, I am waiting on my rectifier to come in the mail (today or tomorrow) then i will wire it up... for more info check out this thread Beefing up the Charging System Part 1

flitecontrol Most, if not all, of the aftermarket R/Rs are cheap Chinese stuff.

slimvulcanrider darn i was too slow on this one... yes i have those bookmarked, and usually keep them stocked... just used my last ones earlier this month and haven't put in a new supply order yet.

flitecontrol They make replacement connectors you could solder onto the old wires. The info is here somewhere, but I don't see it. Think Slim and Lance may have it bookmarked.

Update: and Chavisimo wins the typing competition!

Chavisimo I ran into similar situation with my R/R but mine was eaten up by battery acid. I my new plastic plugs from this site to fit the stock R/R.

niterider That will work. It is best if you solder the wires to the spade connector. And don't get the wires crossed. While you are at it relocate the r/r.
BTW, welcome to the group.

Another R/R Question

Hey guys newbie here. I have a question for the Vulcan Gods.. I have a 1986 750 vulcan with around 10,000 miles on the clock and the R/R is bad.. The problem is that the plug coming from the wiring harness is melted. I bought a whole wiring harness from egay and wouldnt ya know the only plug off of the wiring harness i need is bad aswell... I am wondering if i can just use spade conectors and just hook up the wires one by one and use silicone to keep water and stuff out.. Any help or ideas would be great. Thanks
