Sounds like you've got some crazy things going on over there. Hopefully it won't be too hard to get sorted out. With your headlight issue, taking some pictures of the wiring harness where it comes into the junction box would be helpful as a first step if you can't get things sorted out via some time alone with a wiring diagram and a voltmeter.

Hi All 👋 I’m Ade from Oxford, England. Bought a beauty (to look at) of a 2004 VN 750A off a soon to be ex mate (if I can’t get it sorted) last year.
Eventually, after investigating why it drank fuel and wouldn’t start, particularly when warm, I found out that it was suffering from a burnt out stator (said stator having been badly fitted with the wires the wrong side of the cover by same “Ooh what muppet fitted that!” soon to be ex mate)
Have only managed to put around 150 miles on the clock so far, but it makes an old man very happy when it’s going!
Have read a load of the posts already and have learnt a lot. Thanks!!
