DACataldo Thanks! I never heard that term before. Didn't even think to google it.

DACataldo My bet is knocking the phone off the bike is exactly why it was added. Cycle Gear told me explicitly to use that thing. Phablet LOL - my bet here is that a scribe heard it wrong. I guess they don't get paid to think lol

Knifemaker I have heard of phones getting knocked off those holders, perhaps the "rectangular rubber piece" was added to help?

And what's a phablet?

"The RAM-B-149Z-A-UN10U consists of a zinc coated u-bolt base, short double socket arm and universal spring loaded X-Grip IV cradle for large phones and phablets"

DACataldo Close. I use this one with the rectangular rubber piece for extra secure mounting which is a 5 solution to your 10 lol:

I actually ended up making one that screwed into the hole for the mirror mount on the clutch lever. (The FJR had its mirrors mounted to the fairing, but the clutch and brake levers still had mirror holes under rubber plugs)

I usually recommend having a tether of some sort to secure the phone even if using a dedicated phone holder, unless you are using this one:

Birdhunter02 Ram should have a handlebar mount. Mine works great.
