Thorn Glad you got it sorted. Always great to hear the final chapter of a saga.

Oh yes NYC cops wait for that first day of nice weather to stop every bike on the road. Which reminds me, I should get my inspection done before it expires at the end of the month. Much appreciated

spbruski Update:

So I went ahead and changed the oil and filter, ran the engine and she started up on the first couple turns and she sounds great ! The high rev problem was directly related to the return lever at the carb wasn't returning to its close position. A month back i found that the cable broke in half and heard that it wasn't a major issue. Looks like this was left in the open position and was letting gas flow right through and flood my carb. Back on the road with this beautiful weather in nyc

Thank you to everyone that helped ! You guys are awesome !

Awesome, I know I've seen one more Vulcan on the streets of Brooklyn.

Short update: started draining the oil and I definitely get a nice hint of gasoline in the oil with a minor brownish tint to the oil dripping down. Got a sample towards the end of the drip and I should see if there was any gas there in a few.
