thtanner There are two part numbers of Cobras, single sided and dual sided.

4163SC = single sided

4163TSSC = dual sided

Green1 He was looking at the Cobra pipes on another bike (he showed me the picture). Those are what he wanted. I know the site only shows a generic picture as do most of the site out there. I will have to show him the other pictures. Are the V&H equal length? I would think they are. I am glad this question came up. Otherwise I would not have done the research. Now to search for feedback on Cobra pipes.

Vance and Hines are not 'single sided'. If you were looking at the promo image it's of another bike and looks different.

The only single sided exhausts are Cobra and Mac. (and not all of them are, they make both types).

Vance and Hines look like this:

There is no CARB issue either. It's an uneducated seller.

Only 2015+ bikes are affected by the law they're worried about.

Green1 I was pretty sure the pipes he was looking at both came out on the passenger side. I thought it looked crowded there due to the water reservoir but really didn't think about it a whole lot. He actually went to the V&H site itself. Everything was going great until he entered his zip code. Then he called customer support. I haven't tried another site. He was told they were not CARB certified and due to the new laws couldn't be shipped here. My daughter's fiance had the same problem with his 2016 Dodge when he tried to get a cold air induction kit from Summit. He had to get a friend in Reno get it for him and ship it here. I will check on them today since our order from BikeBandit for splitting his case is supposed to arrive today. Were the early bikes made with the CA EVAP system. I have marbled both our bikes and removed the charcoal canister.

Green1, not sure who you tried to buy from, but you can buy them in Cali no problem. They do not have any 'smog' stuff. There is nothing to go through the frame as theyre strait pipes....

Just say it's for an older bike (86 is a good year) at the very worst case when you go to buy them.

I had no issues buying them off RevZilla myself.

Or get a set off an eBay seller.

Thorn Have you tried twisting the right handle while riding the 2006? I've noticed a speed increase when I do that on mine.
