|waggy1236||Thanks for the responses. I rode the 500 and it is a fine ride, but I ride like an old man, because I am one. I really need a tach, My old Honda's 305,350,450,750,1000 and 1100 all had tachs. Now with the VN 750 I'm also addicted to the fuel gage. I should quit reading Craig's List, I'm always seeing "one time good deals" If I had a bigger garage I'd be in trouble.|

also this year (2009) is the last year that Kawasaki will be making the Vulcan 500 LTD. it's also the last year for the ninja 500, which will be replace with the ninja 600. so maybe they will come out with a Vulcan 600?! that would be too cool!

|Gemguy||had a 500 for many years before the 750 and it's a good bike with a lot of power. mine was 94 with belt drive, don't know why they went back to chain i think the belt is better.|

|ruger||my wife has a vulcan 500 ('96 old style) she loves it. I like it, it is a little small for me. for a small bike it is fast! it will hold it's own with the big boys. fun to ride too.|

|IMBoring25||Vulcan 500 was what I wound up on for the MSF BRC. The pegs are significantly closer than the ones on the 750. At 6'0" with a 34" inseam, it was not a comfortable riding position for me. If it had been a long-term bike, I could have improved it some by adjusting the rear brake pedal down, but it would never have been as comfortable as the 750.|

|niterider||If it is anything like the 454LTD it is more than a mascot. It is a little bike with a big heart. The six speed trans really makes it go. imo|

Opinions on Vulcan 500?
I have a chance to pick up a 2007 Vulcan 500 at a good price. Thinking about adopting it for a mascot. It would probably make me appreciate my 750 even more. I do like having a tach, gas gage, center stand, and hyd lifters. But I also like variety.
