Malta Mick i have drilled out the baffles from both exhausts but not much louder to be honest. Can i remove the goats belly and just weld/blank each exhaust ie no connection between the 2 ? or will this cause problems ?

Deviate The V&H Cruzers have a pipe on each side. What exhaust do you have currently? I have some of my old stock exhaust parts out in the garage somewhere, but I don't have the goat belly anymore. I tossed that in the trash when I took it off because it was too big to store anywhere at the time.

Scubawerx I want a set like the OEM. I like the balanced look of en exhaust on each side. Any recommendations? Any OEM set for sale?

I would think that any method used to make the exhaust louder would be the same. Once while working on my bike, I had both mufflers removed. I started it up that way, and loved the sound at idle. I took it out on the road and ran into the same issue.

Since your brother just bought the bike, and it is an '85 (which is a 700, not a 750) I would not spend a lot of money on an exhaust until the bike has been given a good going over. Older Vulcan 750s, and some newer ones, have problems that need to be repaired, that can often be expensive.

Jerry that IS a 750.have never seen a 700 with a silver motor(or one made in 86).Mine sounds fine at higher rpms.sometimes things that sound fine to one others find are loud and annoying...

Definitely a crossover pipe, but they're the same design as macs, not slash cut, or whatever. Could still be Jardines, but I haven't seen any of that exact design.

thtanner I guess another side of the coin, I don't mind the way my V&H pipes sound on the freeway. I run earplugs and a full face, and you can still hear the bike, no doubt. It just doesn't bother me I guess.

They're a lot quieter than some of these crazy HDs I've seen. I can't imagine..

Spockster I would look around. I did see a Vance & Hines set on there too.
