    You got it right - there are two fuel lines, there's the vacuum line, and then the carb vent hose that comes off that t-connector. That hose goes over to the right, towards the air filter housing. There's a small "hole" (that's overstating it) in the upper back of that box and the hose fits right into there. The reason you cut it to 45 degrees is so that if the hose hits the bottom of that air filter housng box, it won't occlude it completely (i.e. at 45 degrees, only the "point" will hit - the carb can still vent).
