The San Juan Ferries are a great ride. Orcas Island, (named for a Spanish governor on the island way back when and not the Orca whale like most people think) is one of the best for touring. Nice scenic ride and a climb to Mount Constitution where you can see all over Puget Sound and the adjoining islands. There's an old fire lookout up there that was built by the CCC's back in the dirty 30's. You can climb up in it and look out over the islands. But try to pick a sunny day because if it's cloudy there's not really all that much to see when cloudy. I ride over there about twice a year on my motorcycle. And if you come this close to Anacortes a ride up to artist point on Mt Baker is a must. One of my most favorite motorcycle rides in the entire country.

I bought it last year with 26,000 miles and have had the motor out twice. I have about 27,000 miles on it. No sons, two cats and a dog. my wife and I own a bookstore here in forest grove. We moved here about 2 1/2 years ago from Wisconsin, where she taught English at U.W.S.P. she had full tenor but when Governor Walker took away collective bargaining rights, she wanted to move to Oregon and open up her first business. I had a business in Wisconsin, Painting landscaping and snow removal. nothing transferred for me to Oregon and I did not want to pay for a CCB license so I am a mechanic for my best friend in town, and part time at our store. We may travel up to northwest Washington San Wan islands on next getaway, I will let you know. Steve

I'm 81, wife doesn't ride either. Yep we're 300 miles apart. taught my sons to ride, they now join me once a year for a long cruise. Son's riding along the only way to go. You have sons? retired from USAF in 72, Ran an applince repair shop until 1995, then completely retired and we became RV Bums for 16 years. Hated getting off the road.

Thanks for the welcome. Where are you located? I am pretty much interested in riders from the very NW section of Wahington state. Tell me some things about yourself.
