Need advice on a seat.

Used to ride a shadow, that ran like crap. Saved a close family friends life after he'd cut his hand with a saw, and they gifted me a 1993 Kawasaki Vulcan 750. 27k miles. Been doing tons of research after I sold my shadow, love this bike. Runs fantastic. I'm just not a huge fan of the seat, debating on doing a backrest delete or a new seat altogether. Girlfriend likes riding with me, so I need one for two up riding. Suggestions or advice on how to do the delete? Or seats to recommend to purchase? I'm a big fan of the sportster seats, and the star 650 seats. What's involved in making them fit? Sorry, I'm new to the forum. Been lurking for a while. Just need some help.

Do a search on here for seats as there is a large amount of information available on how to use seats from other bikes or how to change the stock seat setup. Actually any seat can be adapted as long as you are willing to spend the money or put in the time to make some fabrication changes. Also since this is your first post be sure to do an introduction under the Newbie Check-In heading and be sure to read the Vulcan Verses. Welcome.

and always remember, "Ride until you rot!"
**Really not sure if the Big "C" is back right now
but having to face the fact that this is a lifetime routine
going forward. Five operations done and it still continues.

The 900 seat works nice, with or without a sissy bar. But will the girlfriends ride without one? Many won't or not for very far.

Sportster and Meanstreak seats have been used.

Been thinking an HD Dyna seat might work too.

I know where there's a good deal on a 900 seat right now, an auction. Really wanted one on mine, but not sure about losing my rack and shaving the back.

I like that sportster two piece. Certain years for that seat I need to find? What's involved with mounting it?

To fear is to worry for the future, but when the future is uncertain. You have no fear.

Don't remember the years. Drilled a hole in a piece of flat stock and bolted it underneath the rear tank mounts.then drilled holes in fender. Had to bend seat a little too,but not much

I actually just finished modifying my stock seat setup, it involved cutting the stock seat bucket and then just folding and re-stapling the leather on top. I like the way it looks much better than the old seat, and it wasn't very hard to do. Didn't require any modifications to the fender or any parts of the bike, just the seat itself. I deleted the grab bars/sissy bar so to hold the seat down I used a bolt coming up from the frame cross bar over the fender. Drilled a hole through the seat and it lined up perfectly with where one of the buttons on the seat was, so I just pulled that out and replaced with with a fender washer topped with a neoprene washer and brass acorn nut to hold it all together.
