Redoing a buell

Just cleaned out the carb which was all gunked up and still can't get it to fire. The battery is garbage. I was using the car to jump it. I sprayed starter fluid into it and it started but quickly died out. What am I missing?

Sounds like a fuel delivery issue. If the carbs were funky, it stands to reason the tank might be too. I made a temporary handle bar tank to test things when a tank is off. It's a clear diner style condiment squeeze bottle with the bottom cut off. Hang it with a clamp, a foot or so of hose off the nozzle going to the carb inlet and you have a small gravity fed tank.
