anyone build their own custom heat shields?

I was wondering if anyone has made their own shields and if they can post some pictures and walk through what they did. I need to make a new set to fit the new mufflers. The stock shields are to wide at the ends. I thought full shields or a mix of wrap with shields to cover the goat section.

I think this is an excellent question.

My bike was degoated and had an aftermarket exhaust when I got it, but the shields are garbage. Rusted up and dont fit properly at all.

I have been lookong at universal fit heat shields and shields from various bikes trying to get ideas, maybe chop or jury rig something up. Hadnt thought about making em though...

I wonder. Now im thinking get some thin sheet metal, cut out a strip in an L shape to fit the pipe, and then bevel the edges somehow.. Have my buddy spot weld some hose clamps in there..

Definitely would like to hear if anyone has done this or has ideas for how it could be done well.

I was thinking get a pipe slightly larger in diameter than the exhaust and make the bends with a torch and muscle then band saw it in half length wise. Couple wields for brackets and whatever else you would want to do to it design wise. That's probably the direction I will go.

Will do. Not sure when it will be. Hopefully before spring hits here.
