So picked up the bike and it was needing some tlc. Multiple hands have wrenched on it some better than others. But here is how it sat when I got it.

So converted to led turn signals in the mirrors, integrated led brake /running / turn signals in the rear. And tried to clean her up a bit.

Thinking of trying to do my forks like this bike.

Is this possible with our forks. Looks like gold anodizing to me.

I don't know how possible it is with the fork uppers. The lowers you could repaint for sure. You can paint the uppers too, just not where the fork seal rides up and down. Here is a set I painted on a cx500:

I suppose you could paint most of the upper tubes and put on some gaiters to hide the unpainted section.

You may be able to buy something like these and get it to work: Sportster Fork Shrouds

they guy that is going to powdercoat the tank and fenders for me had a gold anodized powder that will stick to steel. if the coating is only 1 mil thick would that affect the shocks ability to work?

I would go try the magnet trike on the bike at the moment except I'm in a damn truck going to Baltimore
