new paint color

Here is a small sample of the new paint color for my bike.

only the 1 side cover is done at this time, as I only got 1 can of base color and 1 can of clear. figured if it didnt come out as I wanted, this is an easy piece to redo.

it has a couple flaws in the paint. one in the base color, one in the clear. I may fix it after the rest is painted.

going to leave frame black.. toying with idea of painting the calipers same color.

Well, it is a bit hard to tell exactly what shade of blue it is --going all the way from the bright white glare of the light in the middle to virtually black on the outer edges.

However I do like the dark blue about mid way between the two extremes.

yea, its hard to see due to the flash.

its Cobalt Blue Metallic (rustoleum rattle can) with rustoleum gloss clear on top.

Tomorrow I will try to get a pic in sunlight instead of flash.

I have primer (light grey), followed by a light coat of color, then heavier coat. wet sand (600), then a medium heavy final color. followed with 2 light clears, wet sanded with 600, then 1 light, and one heavy clear (thats when the run in clear happened).

Dupicolor Blue It's actually a little darker blue than the pic shows but the sun was really bright that day. Metallic silver stripes. I've since adder silver pinstriping to the fenders and side covers.

here is another pic from this morning..

under certain light it looks almost like a purple/blue. take the direct sun off it and it looses the purple look.

That's pretty similar to the color on my bike. But instead of silver stripes I have silver flames.

Looks nice, we're you going to put new badges on? If I were to paint my bike it'd be too plain cause I probably wouldn't want to mess with pinstripes or decals and I'm too cheap to pay someone to do a nice job but the old gal definitely needs something.

my plan for the tank is to re-use the old badges (if they come off ok). clean up, repaint the black in them (faded/missing a lot).

the badges for the side covers where stuck on with something other than the stock foam tape that's normally on stuff like that.. they came off in one piece, but are not anything close to reusable.

I may have decals cut for them, not sure yet
