The Rattlecan Thread...it CAN be done !

Heres a few snaps of a tank I did quickly for a friend....3 colors and pinstripes....Id be charging about $75 for this...about $150 for a set of tins...not bad, eh ? Was 3 shades of primer when I got it....

The red btw is also metallic...and darker...the sun's angle wouldnt allow a proper pic....top stripe is more of a green....its reflecting the sky (s'cuse me)....4 coats of clear on it....shiny-shiny....

Well....thats exactly it.....I spent hours with various grits of paper on this.....theres Bondo in it too BTW, although ya cant see it unless yer close...its time, patience, and prep.......the actual paint outlay was minimal...was more labor than anything.....lotta handwork....stuff ya just cant do with a tool....and...its the EYE....gotta have a good eye....Im losin mine fast, so if anyone wants a custom paint job from me, get it quick, lol....I cant see myself painting much after another 12 months....I think diabetes is gittin me....eyes go first Im told....then circulation...and I got issues with that now in my feet....

Git it quick before its gone ferever !!!!! LOL....least I can laugh about me dieing, lol...

I used the SprayMax 2K Clear on my own bike....its GASPROOF....costs like $20/can, but it works....I was pumpin my own gas in Jersey (aint supposed to) and the lil dothead kid grabbed it from my hand and it sprayed a bit on the tank....I almost whacked the lil MF....but I just took his shirt and wiped the tank....was spotless !.....that German SprayMax is the cats azz....WELL worth the $20.....

Use a matte clear, it won't be shiny, more like a suede finish.

Exactly as Jax said....Clear Matte.......I told Merc about it too, but he didnt listen....just a hint....dont ever mix Rustoleum with Krylon....I made that error once and ended up stripping to bare metal again.....if ya use Krylon, stay with it....if you use Rustoleum, finish with it.....Rustoleum also has an offshoot now called "Painters Choice"....lil less costly, but does the job...but NEVER mix brands when using rattlecan.....one thing though, if you use Duplicolor, the Rustoleum Clearcoat is the cats azz....no need to use the expensive Duplicolor clear....the pics above are Duplicolor Chevy/Ford/Rustoleum.....I cleared em all with the Rustoleum clearcoat....lil touch up wet sanding in between with 1500 grit.

Garage
Here is my rattle can paint job... held up fine until the gas cap sized up on me and I had to use a prybar to brake the cap off, Ended up junking the tank.
