(So Cal) Rides this summer

I am doing a ton of riding this summer, so I'm wondering if anyone VN750 folks would like to join me for an Angels Crest ride, or something like Crystal Lake (Azusa).

Thinking July sometime. I have the first half of the month off!

Let me know if anyone has interest.

Funny, but I was looking at this yesterday...

The Angeles crest hwy would be a good ride, but for me, I'd like to stretch it out a little and extend the loop up 138 & 18. Go by silverwood & arrowhead up to big bear.

I wouldn't hear too much complaining from the wife if we took a long weekend in the bear. Its a little bit of a haul for me to get down there, but it sounds like fun.

We may have to plan a nice route that would be worth you coming all this way for. Throw up some Google Maps of route ideas, and I'll do the same. Maybe we can get a few people committed to it (I know some people from another local forum as well that I can ask to come).

Oooh that sounds AWESOME! 18/138 is me and Doom's old stompin' grounds, too...and I've never been down them on the Vulcan, just a 150cc scooter (yeah yeah I'm insane, I know this already!) and it's been a LONG time at that.

Did Carbon Canyon on a 50cc. I think that's on the way to ya'll, but I can't remember. Are you anywhere near Ortega highway? My brain isn't quite in gear yet but I'mma start opening maps as soon as it is. XD

And thank you! It has been a LONG year and seven months, lemme tell ya. I was trepidacious when I first got back on her and it seemed as if I had forgotten how to shift (but not how to clutch, woo!), but after the first four miles, it was as though I had never left her saddle.

God I love that bike.

This is my Vulcan. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Glad you're back in the saddle. I lived in pinion hills before I moved to Vegas 20 years ago. Spent a lot of time in Wrightwood & mountain high and been up to big bear, but never went on the full Angeles crest. Could be a good ride. My problem is that I'm nearly 300 mi from La Canada & my old lady would throw a fit if I took a road trip like that, so I'd prob truck the bike down on a Friday morning to Santa Monica, stay there overnight, take the ride up the crest, lunch in Wrightwood and then up to big bear. Meet her up there (or she could chase) & spend the rest of the weekend.

Jazen: When did you live in that area!? Wrightwood's my old stompin' grounds! My employers from that time lived in Pinion Hills, hehe! I haven't done the whole Angeles Crest but I've done a good clip of 138/18...on a 150cc scooter. XD

Wolfie: You're absolutely right. That's a beautiful drive and I bet it's ten times better on a bike! I kinda wanna go up PCH to the Redwoods on mine, once it's all serviced and running like a champ again.

This is my Vulcan. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

20 years ago. My dad was there for several years. I was only there a short time after splitting with the first wife before moving to Vegas.

I spent a lil time in a commune in Big Sur in the 70s....never even been SoCal...mean to one day...got lotsa people there I wanna see before I die...but yeah, Solvang is awsome.... a friend makes a trip there yearly for a car show....I could almost live there, but Im sure its big bucks....I mean, from LA, Solvang aint that far....but ya need to do an overnight so's you can eat well (great German food and beer), party a lil, then head back the next day...a day trip there wouldnt cut it, ya know ?....

Dunno if yer a reader, but check out Richard Brautigan (RIP)....excellent writer, left coast....met him once....60s style writing like Kerouac, Ginsburg, Kesey....neat stuff....loaned all my books to an ex GF, then she died before I could get em back....bummer....damn....wish I hadnt thought of that....50 yrs old....artist....sheit....but anyway....check out Brautigan...."In Watermellon Sugar" and "The Confederate General from Big Sur" mostly....think theyre out of print now, but can be found....
