Lightbulb Calling all GA riders

I'm planning on making other run up to the north GA mountains the first Sunday of next month (Aug. 2nd) and would like to get a group together to go up around the Helen and Blairsville area. We can ride around on Blood mountain, grab some lunch in Helen and take it from there.

Send me a PM if you would like to go and we can figure out where we can all meet up in the morning, grab some breakfast and head out for a nice day ride.

I live in Duluth (Gwinnett County) so I guess we will have to figure out central point to all meet up.
Lets get a good group together and have a great time up in the mountains

Be careful on (but be sure to ride......) Wolf Pen Gap Road (aka, State hwy 180) over to "Two Wheels Only" bike resort and restaurant (they have the best burgers there....).

This is probably one of the most challenging roads in north GA. Two "hairpin" turns on this road near Vogel State Park will especially tax your newly acquired MSF skills.

Always careful. Lance and I have already rode up there about a month ago and I handled it pretty well, not pushing myself beyond my limits, and catching up to him when I safely could instead of trying to ride more than I could handle just to stay with him. May have pissed off some of the other riders and cages behind me by taking turns slower than they would have liked, but I could really have cared less what they thought when it came to my safety.

Talking

Still on for next Sunday. Trying to get a few more guys I know to ride with us. Lance is also working on getting a few more. Wileysden, any luck on finding anyone else.

Also need to start planning on a place to meet. Lance and I are just down the road a bit from each other so that's no big deal. Wileysden, you've got a good ride already just to get close to Lance and I. I figure the best thing to do would be for everyone to meet somewhere along the way off GA-400 since we will taking GA-400 to Helen. Like I said, if everyone wants to meet and get breakfast first, there is an IHOP right off Buford HWY near GA-400.

Just let me know

With all the rain that has been rolling in here all week, I'm beginning to rethink the ride in the mountains this Sunday. There is suppose to be a 50% chance of thunderstorms and I'm not very confident in my riding ability on wet roads in the mountains right now. So, we might have to postpone it for another weekend.

Just wondering what everyone's plans are for next weekend (Labor Day weekend) that's in the area. I had planned on going to the NASCAR race this coming Sunday, but plans kinda went up in smoke. So I was thinking about putting the ride on again for next weekend, weather permitting of course. I'm up for Saturday or Sunday. Saturday may be better, I think there is suppose to be morning rain Sunday.
