achang1, you my friend are one brave soul! Do you take the DC Beltway? I live in Joppa and work at Andrews AFB but haven't gotten brave enough to ride it down 95, through the tunnels, down 295, around the DC beltway and then home again.

495 is where i learned to ride,
I bought a bike when i was 18yrs and didn't ask my self how the heck am i gonna get this home, until i paid the dude, got the title, and was walking down the dude's driveway to my 86 vn750, silver spring to upper marlboro, nothing but beltway, was nervous, but couldn't stop myself from racing onto the beltway, scared the hell out of me as i did the twists and curves next to Holy Cross Hospital at 70mph, after that section, piece of cake, Had some random tag off a truck zip tied to the turn signals, and no helmet, just glad i had some sunglasses on,

D.C. Riding Is Awesome,
Riding around the monuments, site seeing on fast forward, w/ perfect visability.
Rolling down Gtown and meet up w/ friend at the bar down Foggy Bottom.
The rumbling echos of your exhaust as you drive threw the tunnels late at night.

Maybe you should attempt to ride it on a Saturday morning when there isn't so much traffic.

Might do that. The early morning would be great, not traffic when I go to work but coming home is a different story, nothing but traffic.

I thought the whole point to having a bike was not have to sit in traffic ? BTW isn't 495 a parking lot ?

I Live in the glen burnie area and use to ride on 301 often on my sport bike I just got my Vulcan, well being inspected so fingers are crossed. and I will for sure be on 301 but closer to the 97 side as my step father lives right by crofton.

Dave, I rode to my daughter's last Sunday for the first time, down 895 through the tunnel and to Furnace Branch Road. It wasn't as bad as I thought and I didn't even mind the traffic. I've put 4,000 on mine since last August all on 2 lane back roads near White Marsh. It was nice to get out on the road.

I'm close by if you need anything. I've done some mods on my bike and have been through the spline lub process.

That's a start,
Yeah, traffic is hard to avoid in the late afternoon afterwork out there,
How does the bike take it?
They need an HOV lane on the beltway for carpools and motorcycle.
Back roads are fun, but over the years,
I've had many more close calls riding on back roads than highways,
Back roads where people, especial younger driver want to push there cars, cutting into the other lane, as they corner around turns, and worst of all,
not like passing so close to Bambi that you can practically pet the deer.
Well, Not sure if you have deers out in Bethesda?
But sure Glen Burnie still do.
Ride Safe.

deers in glen burnie are pretty rare in most cases.

@Cliffhusn, I am a young dudeand don't mind riding back roads but much rather the HWY as I can open it up and not have to sit in traffic like I do my big rigs and my car

I would love to hear the Jardine pipes on the vulcan, I am in the market for loud exhaust and not a fan of drilling baffles out ( will benefit me if I ever want to put it back to stock if I sell it or anything)
