Actually Chad found that Craiglist bike. I just put the location of both bike and dragon together *G*

Ooops, my mistake. It was Frank "Gringo" out of Chicago that first posted about the Craiglist bike over on the yahoo group

That IS old school talking springer up front; very cool. How about fabricating a manifold for a down draft webber so we can toss our dual carbs that are nearly impossible to get to?

Or better yet design a exhaust manifold that scavenges better than stock.

$900 is cheap to you all? Now I know I'm cheap. I had a hard time paying $950 for my salvage 95 on ebay and I ride it every day I can. My bro called yesterday and if the weather isn't too bad tomorrow, were going out for a new years scoot.

Well, I don't have an extra $900 sitting around doing nothing. (Ok I do but it is earmarked for some other projects)
The point was.. if you had the cash available.. make an offer, like $500 and work from there. With a fully running bike you can easily sell off the parts you don't need, get the parts you do need, and maybe even make a little extra on top of it.

Ain't dreaming fun? I like the weber idea ... kinda goes with a retro-fit injection idea I had.Might be a little costly to be practical, but that's dreaming for ya. Got the idea when a co-worker rode his new street glide in, might be workable but not sure just how yet I'm going to take this project one stage at a time ... stop the oil slick on the rear tire and get some tread back there first, sure was fun in the rain lol Sometimes my mind runs away on me, but the trip is always interesting

Up front, no, $900 seems like a lot. In hindsight, however, if I could have gotten away w/ $900 worth of repairs on Orleans, that would have been a bargain (I paid $850 for her off Craigslist). Sadly, I kept a list of expenses..and just recently totalled it up. Zoinks! One of this, two of that, all getting mailed at different times..trust me, it adds up quickly!

I'm just whining out loud about money. Wife + 5 kids w/one income around the holidays makes money real short in my garage. The wife bought the bike for me in the first place on ebay as a dare 7 years ago. (she took my avatar pict u c here: look in the mirror. There's three family in the pict: I'm driving, she's on the back, and my bro on his Triumph just ahead of us)

Oh I know how that goes..
And it's the old adage about you have to have money to make money. I don't think you could get rich off of buying bikes for parts unless you did it on a large scale but it sure does come in handy for working on your bike if you have a parts bike around especially since parts will become scarce once the ten year mark is passed. I believe European bikes are facing this now since the VN750 was dropped from the market a few years before ours was here in the States.
