Newbie from WA

Hey everyone, I just bought a 2003 Vulcan 750. She has been sitting for around for about 2 years.

I am the 3rd owner. 1st owner put 1500 miles on her, 2nd owner had the handlebars changed at the dealer (along w/ oil and service), and only rode for 100 miles. Yes 1600 original!!

Other than the obvious charge/change battery, is there anything to look for or do before i start her up??

How about the best place to look for taller passenger back rest?

Its missing a peg (right side brake). I found one on flea bay 20.00 bucks.

I am a former dune rat (400ex and 450r quads), but have never rode a bike on the street. So i have enrolled in a safety/endorsment course that rubber stamps you at the DMV.

Great forum you have here!!! Glad i found it!

Sorry for all the noob questions, but i guess we all start somewhere.

All noobs ask questions...they lurk until stumped (Im guilty) as I was a noob to anything but Brit or Harley basically...
Not a problem brother !...the dumbest question is one that is not asked...
Most of the time though, those questions have been answered to other's querries...no biggie....the search feature at the top of the page works great, and if not, Ol Hoss usually steps in to link ya !....welcome brother !

Ol(d) being the operative word here.

If this week is as busy as the last one, up at 3:30 AM to start at 5 AM, and working 12+ hours a day, I probably won`t be online again 'til next weekend. By the time I get home, all I`m interested in is a hot shower, some supper, getting my lunch and gear ready for morning, and getting some shut eye.

Good night folks, I gotta get up in 6 1/2 hours, so it`s time for my beauty sleep.
(sorry kids, it ain`t working. lol)

Garage
welcome to the group!

just my opinion...if the tires are in good shape and are not dry rotted or cracked, you are probably OK.
Keep in mind that they are tubeless....so best to replace them if you are in doubt.

Good looking bike by the way! nice find...enjoy and ride safe.

I'd replace the tires to be safe. If you don't know where they've been you don't know whether they're really safe or not. Rocky mountain atv/mc has some great deals on tires and you can usually get them put on for about $25 each if you don't want to do it yourself. What part of WA are you from? I'm in Spokane.

Looking for:
Swingarm caps
Highway pegs or engine guard

Im in Des Moines.

Started her up w/ aft just charging the OE battery. KInda sluggish at first, then realized its probly got old gas.

My old 400ex had a keihin carb, all i had to do to drain the fuel was twist the screw at the bottom of the bowl. same here right?
