First Post on this forum! (Jersey)

Hey Everyone,

I'm so excited to have this forum here with a ton of other vulcan riders!! I picked up my '96 vulcan about a month ago and have only had my motorcycle license for about the same time. The bike was nearly brand new and only had 1151 miles. It was garage kept for the entirety of its life. Now i'm taking it out all the time and putting a lot of miles on it.

I have been scouring these pages for all kinds of information on mods and gear and upgrades. These of course will come in time, but I am very excited to get registered and see if I can meet up with some other Jersey people!!

Thanks,

Danny

I'm quite excited to have joined up! And I'm replacing the lead-acid battery for an AGM tomorrow! just found out that that's sorta important haha.

I am in north Jersey, but there are a few members in South Jersey you might be able to meet up with for a ride. You are always welcome to head north and meet me and a few others for a nice ride in the mountains and lakes of north jersey and NY

Good luck with it and ride safe

Welcome to the forum!

AGM battery, lube the splines and relocate the regulator rectifier should be for any VN7xx. For a bike that old you should definitely fresh new sticky tires and change the brake fluid (should be changed every two years anyway).

And a Motorcycle Safety Foundation class couldn't hurt to take either, msf-usa.org

Safe riding!

Thanks for the info sloppy. Now I just need to look up what all that means haha. I'm still a big newb when it comes to bike maintenance. The tires are actually in really good shape and the guy who owned it previously changed the fluids, spark plugs and flushed everything out every year. Still wouldn't hurt though I suppose. Actually the way I got my license was through an MSF class so I really recommend those to whoever wants to get a license or even if you have already been riding for a while. They teach you some really good fundamental riding techniques.

Welcome to the forum. Where are you located in NJ? There are several members here and we are always looking for people to join in on a ride. Sept. 6th to 9th is the Roar to the Shore bike rally in Wildwood, NJ. Serveral members have shown interest in meeting there at least for some time over the four days. I will be there for the entire rally. Liberty Pilot may make it down there, kcd2gq will be there for a day or two also. Let us know in advance if you can make it and we will meet up if you are interested in joining us. Send me a PM and we can discuss when to meet and exchange cell phone numbers if you are interested.

Good luck and welcome to an adventure.

and always remember, "Ride until you rot!"
**Really not sure if the Big "C" is back right now
but having to face the fact that this is a lifetime routine
going forward. Five operations done and it still continues.
