Cool Howdy!

Just found the forum. I own a 2002 Vulcan 800-A, and just purchased a 1985 Vulcan 700 for my wife. I'm hoping to get a few tips.

Welcome to the best forum for your bikes. Best place to start is the Vulcan Verses section.

I'm keepin' all the left over parts. I'm gonna use 'em to build another bike!

Welcome to the forum. Both this forum and the Vulcan 700/750 are great. You will probably get more than just a "few"tips. I'm not sure if the made in Japan Vulcan 700 had this problem to begin with, but since it is 25 years old, the very first thing I would do is check the final drive splines. Most of the U.S. built Vulcan 750s left the factory without the splines being properly lubricated, and many owners never checked them, resulting in a lot of destroyed final drive units. You didn't say how many miles are on yours, but at 25 years old, it must have been done before. Still the first thing I would check. Jerry.

I am a motorcyclist, NOT a biker.
