new bike new driver

hello all

I just got a 1995 VN750 with 5600 miles on it. I finished the basic riders course and been riding it for 2 weeks. It been a blast... Until now.I found this site because ive recently ran into some problems and need help. I feel pretty lost. Im excited to start learning how to fix her up and work on some projects. As of right now i feel a little intimidated though.

well I was on the highway going about 65-70 and all of a sudden she started spuddering and lost power and I was stuck on the side of the road. I had enough gas so I got someone to jump the battery and I got her started up and headed home. I scheduled an appoinment to have her looked at just incase, but ive been rideing the bike in the meantime. She died on me again on the freeway and now the oil light is on. This time it didnt seem to be so much electrical. Im not sure i got her started up again but had to twist the throttle a good amount to get her started again and once it got started she rode just fine all the way back home. Oil levels are fine previous owner said he just had an oil change done I guess I could have another one done just in case.

Check and clean all battery and ground connections, if you have a flooded wet cell battery replace with an MF AGM battery.

I have a MF battery and everything looks clean. Im also worried about the oil light. The place I scheduled the check up is about 45 minutes away. I guess im just scared that riding it will damage the bike. Maybe Im worrying to much

Could it be the venting on the gas tank. It seems to do it when he is using more fuel, on the free way.

when i accidentally pinched off the fuel vent hose with the seat the bike would act like that it would shut off after i made it 2-3 miles so niterider is prob right. there is a hose under the seat coming off the gas tank check it to see if its closed off

Put the bike on the center stand and start, if you see oil level drop past low the the oil is circulating. Check the wire and nut on the oil sending unit.
