Hi from clakston ,WA

I just got a vulcan 750 89 from my girlfriend last year and now I finally have time and money to really work on it. Unemploment is no fun. Anyway also there is no way I gone ride around on a bike that is painted in kind 80 style rainbow color and over painted skull sticker in the tank. I got a image to think of.

Welcom to the forum. Lots of knowledgeable folks here. You got the best model too, BTW.

I'm keepin' all the left over parts. I'm gonna use 'em to build another bike!

Welcome to the madness mason. I can certainly understand no self respecting Swede wanting to be seen on a bike with so hideous a paint job. The po must have had all his taste in his mouth! lol

It sounds like it`s time for several sheets of wet and dry sandpaper and some elbow grease to remedy that abomination. I`m partial to some old school real flames on the tins myself.

See the link below too, especially the MF-AGM battery, NGK-Iridium plugs and a rear spline lube.

I like flames too, but would be happy with solid gloss black, with no graphics. I have an '02, and it is dark metallic green with silver side panels on the tank. The dark green actually looks black until you see it in bright sunlight. But I don't want to paint it myself, as I do not have the skills and equipment, and a professional motorcycle paint job in a solid color around here costs about $1000. Not gonna happen.

Before worrying about the paint, I would check/lube the rear driveshaft splines, and make sure the camshaft tensioners are ok. You will find plenty of information about both here. Before my '02, I also had a '93, both bought new, The '93 also had the driveshaft spline issue, but surprisingly enough, the cam chain tensioners never caused any problems in over 80,000 miles of use. Welcome to the forum. Jerry.

I am a motorcyclist, NOT a biker.

Mason,

Hi there!! I must have mssed your post the first time, as I am on this site almost everyday. I, too, live in Clarkston, WA. Since we are a smaller community, I'm sure we have possibly crossed paths somewhere along the way. I have a 2001 Vulcan and ride it most days duriing the Spring, Summer and into the Fall. Maybe we can get together for a cup of coffee, a soft drink, or a cool one. We can also talk about our rides and maybe even plan a ride or two. There is also another VN750 rider/member that lives in Lewiston. We could all get together and share some info or help each other out on the bikes.

Get in touch with me via this group (PM me with a phone number) and we can meet up. Look forward to hearing from you.

Yep, in the southeastern corner of the state. We are just west across the border from Lewiston, Idaho. About 100 miles south of Spokane.
