Newbie in East Tenn.

Hello to all!
I知 a Newbie in East Tenn.
I recently aquired an 86 VN750 42K miles for cheap.
I知 a PoBoy so I took it cheap even though it wasn稚 charging.
It starts easy and runs great.
This web site and the Yahoo group have been a great help.
I知 already in the process of replaceing the stator and RR.
Looks like I値l eventualy be in the market for a couple of mufflers.
I致e seen a few VN750 exhaust systems on Ebay.
Is there a way to adapt a more plentiful type like Harley to our 750s?

Looking forward to a group ride!

Welcome to the forum. Have you found the service in Alabama that rewinds your stator with better materials than the original, and for much less? Several guys have used HD exhausts on their 750's - check in the exhaust section for more info. Not a direct bolt up, but the mods are fairly minor IIRC.

I'm keepin' all the left over parts. I'm gonna use 'em to build another bike!

Welcome to the madness moloprintz. Your Poboy reference reminds me of of the name of the country band, "The Po` Boys" that backed up "Whisperin" Bill Anderson years ago. I still like listening to his albums.

If you don`t already have a new stator, you may want to check out Tim Parrot here:

He has a link to his website there. lance328 recommends his parts as superior, at a good price.

Several members have put Harley mufflers on the vn750, IIRC. Sportster, Dyna and Screaming Eagles I think have each been mentioned. The main thing is to be sure the pipe diameter is the same, and I don`t recall exactly what it is. (1 3/4" maybe?) You will probably have to fabricate a bracket of some sort on the muffler to match up to the bike.

Here is a link to Kawabegies vn750 with Screaming Eagle pipes and pictures:

It was just one thread of 38, when I typed in "Harley mufflers" to the search feature.
