New member, love from China

Hello!
Just discovered this forum and although I'm currently living in China and separated from my bike, thought I would like to meet some people online and see what I can learn.

I'm a fairly new rider (license for 5 yrs, bike for 3). My '99 750 is my first and only bike. It is currently under the care and protection of my dad in WI. My whole family loves to ride, dad, brothers, aunts, uncles, and I recently convinced my husband to get his license as well. When we return to the states he gets a bike for his birthday

That's about all. I look forward to reading about everyone and hope to learn a few things about my bike as well.

Sincerely, Cynthia

Welcome to the forum, Cynthia. Lots of good stuff here. Have you read the Vulcan Verses yet? You'll come up with a lot of things you'll need to do or check on the bike there.

I'm keepin' all the left over parts. I'm gonna use 'em to build another bike!

Hello,

I've been reading forum posts and parts of the "verses" on and off all day in between classes. I'm hoping my dad will be up soon, I want to share this forum with him while he has my bike. He was a mechanic (retired) and still loves to tinker. I figure while he has free use of the bike he might as well make himself useful and do some things for me

Welcome Cynthia! If you're looking to learn about the VN750 you've certainly come to the right place! Lots of experts here ready and willing to help so feel free to post away.

China huh? We have people here from all over the world - Kuala Lumpur, England, Germany, Spain, Canada (Hoss should be chiming momentarily), all over the US and now China. So obviously you go to school there. Do you mind if I ask what for? Do you speak any of the language?

My husband and I are teaching English at Southwest Petroleum University in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province (south central China). We have been here since Aug 28 and plan to stay for several years. We each are teaching several classes, oral English, English writing, European and English speaking culture classes, Business English, English radio. On top of this we are also taking Chinese language lessons. Personally, I would like to stay in China until I am fluent with the language and culture. I think it will be beneficial for job potential in the future, given where our economy and world in general are going.

It's great to meet you and feel free to email me anytime

Welcome again Cynthia, I saw the "Small female rider" thread first, and posted there. If you leave the vn750 with your dad for a few years, while you are in China, he may not want to give it back!! LOL Have him read the link at the bottom of my sig line for suggestions of many things to check/clean/service or adjust on the bike.

Do you and your husband drive a car or ride bicycles in China, or just rely on public transportation? Driving or riding in many of those big cities looks like a death wish to me.

Enjoy your stay in China, and remember to make a good day.

Hi Cynthia. I have some young friends who are missionaries in China and are teaching english, too. I'm certain you will be a blessing to so many people there, and that you and your husband will be wonderfully blessed for your outreach to the chinese people as well.

Hello Cynthia welcome to the forum. Sounds very exciting what you're doing. I must warn you however, hanging around on this site is going to make you very lonely for your ride. :-). Besides that you will love it here.

Welcome aboard Cynthia! Being in other countries and learning their customs is great thing. I really enjoyed my time in Korea and Germany. Asians seem to find English quite difficult to pronounce properly.
