Hi from Ric

Hi there.
I'm living far from most of you guys.
Quite far yeah.
Though what brought me here is the same thing which brought all of us here.
A lovely sweet girl called VN750.
I'm living in Malaysia currently and bought the VN a short while ago.
It's a 1994 bike and has about 20,000 miles on it.
It cost me somewhere around $2700.

I bought mine from an old china man who hadn't ridden the bike since 2002.
I spend another $700 to fix things that needed to be fixed/replaced. All the rubber hoses, a shock absorber, front fork oil seals, etc.

Will try to post few pics soon.

Nice getting to know you all.

Cheers

If you ride like there is no tomorrow, there won't be one!!!

Welcome my friend! If I'm not mistaken I believe we actually have another member here who was either in Kuala Lumpur for quite some time or still is! How amaaaaazing would that be! A VN750 ride put together in Malaysia!

Anyway, we like to kid around here so try not to take anything too personal if you can help it. Although, judging by your avatar you're probably pretty tough. After all you're karate chopping an elephant and don't even have to look at it! Ballzy dude, ballzy.

Check the Vulcan Versus for the soapbox stuff and please feel free to post often with any questions that come up. We have several experts here who are always ready and willing to help out.

LMAO. Actually I used to do Kick and at 5'10" and 220lbs they call me big guy here (I'm not a Malaysian). And usually people avoid getting face to face with me. But when hanging around with few of my American/Australian friends who ride their Harleys around, they all call me "The Small Dude".

Anyways, thanks for your friendly welcome. Appreciate it mate!

I read in the Electrical section of the forum that "You are an idiot if you don't change the wet cell for a dry one" And well I decided to not be THE idiot. LOL
I posted a question regarding the battery here: www.vn750.com/forum/showthread.php?t=270&page=15

I'd appreciate if any one can help me with the battery too.

Here in Malaysia the big G is posing crazy tax on anything bigger than 250cc. So a new VN1700Voyager costs more than $30,000.
With the basic salary for a freshie less than $7000 a year, you can imagine here in Malaysia young bikers can only dream about a new biggie.

The spare parts are taxed too so the battery will cost me 15% of my monthly income. That's why I wanna make sure that I'm getting the right thing.

Cheers

Yeah Kind of.
That's of course if you are used to riding in heavy tropical showers that soaks your underwear in less than 5 seconds. LOL
Have been there man, I've been there.

In my last trip on the VN I was riding through one of those heavy rains. Was doing 25mph. Could only see 20 feet ahead.
The trip was only 150 miles but it took me 7 hours to reach.
That was not the problem though.
The problem was my GF who was sitting behind me and our destination was on the highlands where it gets pretty cool.
Too cool actually if you are WET and riding a bike.
After we reached up there, I pulled in to a gas station to top off the tank and my girl went to the bathroom.
I heard her screaming her ass off.
So I stormed into the ladies room thinking some punk is pulling a prank on her.
There I saw here half squat shivering in cold.
She looked me directly in the eye and shouted: The f*cking hand dryer ain't working!!!!
Yeah ya'll guessed it right, she was hoping to warm herself up with the hand dryer which the thing let her down at the wrong time!!!

^ That's unfortunate - also pretty funny. Can't a girl just get a blast of hot air? She ain't askin for a kidney!

Well big guy/small dude (maybe we'll just call you "relative guy") as far as your battery question, your best bet is to start a new thread in the 'electrical' section and ask it there. Its a little more high viz there so it should get some quick responses.

So are you from Australia originally? FYI, fellow kick boxer here...

Yeah, it's kinda funny. She laughs too when every now and then suddenly out of blue I shout out "The f*cking hand dryer ain't working".
That was a good trip.
So Fellow Kick Boxer, Osu.

Me? Aussie?....Nahhhhhhh, I ain't Aussie mate. I'm a mixed blood of few origins.
Don't know what I really am. Have some Russian blood, some Mongolian, some Persian, some Turkish and that's as far as I know. And guess what, What I don't know usually is more than what I know!!!!! LOL
How about you mate, where are you from?

Philly, born and raised. I've been all over the globe but I'm a Philly boy. Yeah the things you don't know are usually so much bigger than the things you do - that's why everything's awesome. Do you have any pics of your new ride?
