Howdy all,
I just got my license in July and bought a 1991 Vulcan 750. Have loved riding and the bike but.....
The bike had sat before I bought it and the engine is all gummed up and then....
broke the cam chain.
Just got the engine off the bike and am wondering about redoing the air intake. Don't like the setup on the bike as it is. Plan is to replace the cam chains, all the seals and gaskets, and check out the rest of the engine. I am also thinking about chroming the bike out a bit and perhaps a few other ideas.
How can I redo the air intake to work best? Any other ideas? Working on a budget though.

Welcome. Here is a recent post on redoing the air filter (ear shave).

I'm keepin' all the left over parts. I'm gonna use 'em to build another bike!

Welcome to the Vulcan madness scubajeffo. Congrats on the new to you ride. Fill out your profile and a sig line with info about your bike, and any mods made to it. Good choice on the `91, that`s the fastest colors you know. lol. Here is a link to the Vulcan Verses and info on doing an "ear shave", to get rid of the air filter boxes on each side and the big air box under the tank, that is a pain to work around, when pulling the engine, etc.

There are a lot of guys who have done it, and may have more up to date info on parts or suppliers than the verses do. lance328 will probably drop in and give you some advice. He is a licensed auto mechanic, and has rebuilt a few vn750s, including his own. He is one of our best "go to guys" active on the forum right now.

I hope you get her all fixed up and ready to go, before the next riding season rolls around.

While you are rebuilding the engine you might want to rebuild the Automatic Cam Chain Tensioners (ACCT) with heavy duty springs from , or even swith to Manual CCT`s. I`m wondering if loose/weak tensioners might have been responsible for premature wear and the breaking of the cam chains.

Good luck with all the repairs and adding a little bling.

edit. flitecontrol beat me to it. I had forgotten about that new earshave. I like the looks of it better too.
