First post, First Vulcan, First Bike, excluding dirt!

Hello all VN750 members!

The name if you have not guessed is Mark. I am going to pick up my first street bike, a VN700, today. It is going to be a bit of a project but thats cool with me.

Story goes that the balancer let go so the guy I am buying from bought cheap and fixed the balancer. Seems that Mr. Fix-it is a small engine and lawn mower guy and used some liquid gasket stuff in place of real gaskets on the side covers. So now it leaks a little oil and he has thrown in the towel.

Bike seems to run pretty good so we'll see.

Great site!

Mark

Welcome, You found the greatest site for VN7XX owners. I've got a VN700 also, and love it. Good luck with the leaks.

Welcome. I've got an '87 with the balancer sticking through the lower case. If he's that cheap, Mr. Fixit may have cut some corners inside too.

I'm keepin' all the left over parts. I'm gonna use 'em to build another bike!

Welcome to the Vulcan madness Mark. It seems you are picking up a project bike at the right end of the riding season. Enjoy the cruise though the forums and down the open road. I hope the PO didn`t mess up anything else inside the engine case. Take a look at the link at the bottom for other stuff to check, clean, replace and lube over the winter.

Welcome brother, yeah this site rocks without rocking chairs. If you rifle trough the versus and the other boiler plate stuff and still have a question, please ask away. The folks here are not only the best but they're on this site quite frequently.

Congrats on your purchase, I hope you enjoy getting her roadworthy.
