Welcome to the Vulcan madness. Check out the link below, we may address some of your issues there, such as hot or cold starting problems, noisy, loose cam chain tensioner, loud popping from exhaust when decelerating, etc. Also check the table of contents on the various tech forums for different parts of the bike, or try using the search feature at the top of each page. Any question you have, has probably been asked before. I still find it a little frustrating trying to find the right search words sometimes myself, so just be patient and try a few combinations.

Well Im from Mesa, Arizona...lived here all my life except for the 6.5 years I was stationed in Germany and other more hostile parts of the earth. Im 26 and married, we have a little 3 y/o girl. I work for Boeing painting helicopters.

With the bike stuff its a '99 that I picked up for 1500 dollars. It runs ok, I have diagnosed most of my issues so far. My speedo cable needs replacing, along with a solenoid and a carb rebuild. I have replaced the air cleaners and battery. It has failed emmisions once, but hope a carb rebuild should help fix this. No leaks that I have noticed so far. It wants to kinda bog out around 4000-5000 RPMs when im in 1st or 2nd gear, I think its the float sticking?

I will keep everyone informed on my progress, gotta find the best deals on parts and I will get this vulcan 100% soon I hope.

Welcome to the group! If you've read much here you already know about seafoam. Good idea to give it a good dose and see if you can help clean things out before you pull the carbs. Sometimes it's all you need, sometimes not... Good luck!
