Hello from Northern Kentucky / Elsmere,KY

Hello. I was part of a different website like this one for Mitsubishi Mighty Max pickup trucks when I owned that truck and found that the brotherhood and knowledge of sites like these are truly PRICELESS in my book. Thank you for having me here. I purchased a 1986 Vulcan 750 about 2 months ago. I had to have the 1986 model because the black paint and red graphics that I really liked are exactly the same as the one on my previous bike (1986 Kaw 454 LTD). That paint/decal scheme was only offered in '85-'86. I didn't want the '85 700 cc model (no offense to you '85 owners) and the '85 seems alot harder to find. I bought my '86 with progressive 2" rear lowering springs installed and the front has been lowered 1". It also had a small clear windshield and K&N filters. I also came complete with a FRIED STATOR that I did not know of, but learned of how easily they DIE from you folks on this site. I will be updating everyone here about all the upgrades I do to it, and post some pics. soon. Thanks again for having me here. (BRET HOLLAND)

Welcome to the forum, Bret. Sorry to hear about your stator. There are some mods available to either stave off stator failure (oil bath cooling) or making replacement easier (TOC mod to stator cover). Given the age of your bike, the rubber inserts on the balancer should be replaced while you have the engine out. They tend to go bad when they get that old, regardless of miles. The best replacement stators are those rewound here in the US. Better quality than the brand new foreign ones, and they come with a warranty! Thought I had the site bookmarked, but can't find it now. You can try a search, or maybe someone will post the link for you.

I'm keepin' all the left over parts. I'm gonna use 'em to build another bike!

I love my 86 and the info and people on this forum is priceless. I'm sure you will find it better than your mighty max forum. I just sold a mitsu montero last year to get my bike, great little truck and a lot of fun to drive it was an 87 and would have kept it if I had room to work on it, it spun a bearing.
