Hey all. Name is Damian. New to this site, but not the bike. Owned an '05 model since new and love it. That's my big hello.

Hi Damian, and welcome to the group! If you've been reading around here you probably know the routine, but I'll mention a few things. First, you're more than likely due to check and lube your splines. See the procedure in my sig. Also, if you haven't yet, get yourself a maintenance free battery and get rid of the wet cell it came with. Lots of damage can be caused by the wet cell including a leaky mess that eats stuff, besides the pain in the butt having to remove the seat to check levels... Buy some iridium plugs and replace your OEM's. The battery/plug combo will give you some fits trying to start the bike back up when it is hot, and the MF bat and iridium plugs solve this. Shove a marble in the hose connected to each of your reed valves and put the hose back on and you will virtually eliminate the excessive backfiring you might be getting on deceleration or that "wake the dead" backfire when trying to start the hot bike.
Like others have said, there's lots of info on this site, like no other. Ask away and enjoy the experience of this great group of folks!

Welcome to the Vulcan madness Damien. Since you are the original owner/rider of an `05 model, you are likely well acquainted with all its peculiarities. There are a lot of remedies well known to members of the forum, that the service manuals and dealership shops don`t mention. See TEN THINGS below. Share what you have learned, and ask if you need to. Happy trails wished to you.
