Hi all, just got myself a vulcan 700, rode for a coupla days loved it, now i got to take the motor out to replace the stator, oh why me.

Welcome to our little family, grimpixie. How do you know the stator is bad? Do you do your own wrenching? Or did someone else tell you it is shot? Here is a thread with 2 simple and definative tests for the stator. It is in lance328 post - #9.
Have you tested the r/r too.

hi Gordon, cheers for the link. I'm a mechanic and i've managed to diagnose it as the stator and the previous owner has already fitted a battery and regulator/rectifier. Its a horrible job as i have to take the engine out and as the bike is 24 years old bolts snap off creating lots more work. all i want to do is ride.
