Newbie in Phoenix area

Hi, I'm new to this forum, new Kaw Vulcan 700 (1985) owner, and for the most part, new to motorcycle riding. I look forward to reading the posts and learning more about riding the bike and how it works - strengths and weaknesses.

I thought I knew a few things about mechanics given all my experiences with automobile repairs, etc. But, I blew it with this bike because I bought it with charging problems. So, I'll start a new thread on my problems and I'm sure somebody will probably give me the worst news - that my stator/rotor are probably bad. I didn't know that changing the alternator was a real chore on these bikes vs. changing one on a car. Done it may times on cars.

I'm sure I have lots to learn. Hopefully some of it will be fun!

Thanks!

chris

Welcome to the forum. Yes, unlike many bikes, you need to pull the engine to replace the stator. But there are many pluses to the bike as well.

I'm keepin' all the left over parts. I'm gonna use 'em to build another bike!
