Noises

So we finely had some dry weather and I drove to work today. Bike ran great no vibration, no oil light coming on but I did get speradicaly a noise coming from the right side of the motor while on the bike. Not as high pitch noise as a squeaking belt in a car but very similar noise. Any leads on that. it would come at go. neutral 1st, 2nd mainly.

Also what is the best way to test the radiator fan?

Florida is getting really damn hot!

Here is a link to a thread from a couple of weeks ago, where trekbiker was having similar problems. I think the noise you are hearing may be the automatic cam chain tensioner, (ACCT), although it is usually described as a ticking noise as opposed to a squeeking sound. https://www.vn750.com/forum/showthrea...=test+radiator

Several members offer suggestions at the begining of the thread, regarding the ACCT. Check it out on the Vulcan Verses too. Try the "Grambo trick" explained there, to see if that is the source of the noise. It is usually only a temporary fix, and you will need some replacement springs from http://www.tocmanufacturing.com/ACCT...structions.htm.

In post number 14 on trekbiker`s thread, there is a detailed description for testing the radiator fan and the fan switch. If you still have questions, ask away, someone will have answers.

Be sure to check your oil and screen for things that shouldn't be there the next time you change your oil.

I'm keepin' all the left over parts. I'm gonna use 'em to build another bike!

From my understanding, the chain is on the left side of the bike when you are on it, am I correct? the noise is coming from the left side how can I replace/ check the ACCT. Also how is the fan system, wiring wise on the motorcycle. From switch to the actual fan noticed the bike ran a little hot, and the fan never came on, once I got into open rod temp dropped. Could the Spring have gone bad already even with the bike only having 9300 miles. its a 94 and all. how hard it to replace the water pump on it as well?

I copied your posts in the Engine/Exhaust/Cooling section where it may get more responses. For testing the ACCTs, do a search for "Grambo trick". Also search for the fan questions you have.
