Welcome. The Vulcan 750 is indeed a great motorcycle, I've owned and worn out 2 new ones, and recently bought a used 1987. But they really aren't the best bike for tinkering. As nice as they are for riding, they are, IMO anyway, seriously over complicated mechanically and can be difficult to work on. But they are pretty much free of electronics, so as difficult as the carbs are to get to, I definitely prefer them to anything with EFI. If you want to tinker, a pre EFI Harley Sportster is a tinkerers dream.

I am a motorcyclist, NOT a biker.
