Brand new rider and new to forum

Ken from Mississippi. Really needing advice. I'll officially become a member tomorrow when I purchase a weathered and dinged up 2003 with 4500 miles or a seemingly pampered 2006 with 19000+ miles. Both are great deals pricewise but want to make a good decision. Thanks in advance.

Welcome! Glad to have you here.

Here's a vote for the seemingly pampered '06 w/ 19000+ miles! Condition is everything in my opinion. That isn't that many miles in the grand scheme of things.

Welcome! If it's not too late already, I'll throw my hat in with GDI. Go for good condition. Old and uncared for = gremlins.

Yeah, I agree. If it's been truly pampered, then the higher-mileage bike would be the better bet. But you might ask the previous owner about a few problem components, just in case, to see what he says: the stator, the final drive splines, the R/R... as a few examples.

You might ask him his favorite things about the bike, and also ask him about some things that he finds annoying. If he says there's absolutely nothing about the bike he would change, he's a damn liar

That's true with most things, by the way. The more you know about something, the more you know about it's ugly side.

Went with pampered 2006

Thanks for the feedback. I went with the 2006 and canít wait to take the a MSF course and legally hit the streets. So far I just rode around yard to get used to the clutch.
