Long time lurker first time poster

Been using the forums for a bout a year but never said hello. 1986 tuxedo mod. Chasing electrical ghosts since the ignition switch stopped working. Previous owner replaced half the harness and left the other half installed. Ready to rip it out and start from scratch.

TLDR: how hard is it to rewire the whole bike?

Welcome.

It's not impossible, but not easy either.

Would be easier to just plug in another good harness. All the plugs only fit in one place.

Welcome aboard.

Do you know if the previous owner was trying to bypass bad parts of the harness, or was running new wires to bypass bad components? Some people do everything they can to re-route wires away from the fuse/junction box because of known issues with bad relays. So, plugging in a new harness would give you a solid, known-good spot to start from if things are still screwy afterwards. *shrug* what sorts of gremlins are you chasing?
