Am I in the right place?

Hey everyone, My name is James and I'm just another blue collar Georgia boy. Recently bought my first bike, an 85 vn700 for 150$ with the hopes of fixing it up and learning to ride. Needless to say, she's a project. I'm hoping to glean some helpful advice from the community here and get this ol' lady kickin' again. Have I found the right forum?

You have indeed found the right place. If it's been sitting you'll probably need to pull the Carbs and clean them. Is the tank OK and free from rust inside? Does it look all stock or did the PO (Previous Owner) do any modifications that you know of? Send us some pics so we can take a look.

$150 bucks and however many years of your life spent repairing it = worth it.

Thanks everyone, I'll be sure to keep you updated. One thing that's been stumping me though are these reed valves on the sides of the headers. As far as i can tell, they run to a vac switch, but further than that I haven't the slightest clue
