Oil Filters

Basic Specifications for our filters
Thread = 20x1.5 mm
Diameter = 2.69"(68mm)
Gasket O.D. = 2.475"(63mm)
Gasket I.D. = 2.173"(55mm)
Height = varies
Bypass Valve Press. = 8psi-15psi (depends on the manufacturer's listing, 8psi for Wix, 9-15psi for Fram)

Models that will work on our bikes (this list is preliminary, and I will edit and add any suggestions others have)

Oil Filter Options:
Car Filters :
Bosch 3323(taller)/D+3323(extended interval)/3300(shorter) Used to have a d+3323w/ no issues. D+3323 is billed as an extended interval filter, but is apparently of inferior construction according to a BITOG forum teardown. 3300 & 3323 rate great on BITOG
PureONE PL14610(taller) / PL-14612(shorter) according to the BITOG forums these are fantastic and nearly identical to the comprable Bosch, and seem to be less expensive. Synthetic compatible
Mobil1 M1-108(A)(short) / M1-110(A)(longer) good reports,
synthetic compatible, used the 110A on mine during the most recent problems,
may not be the issue
WIX 51365(shorter) / 51358(medium) / 51356(taller) good name, good reports of quality
Motorcycle Specific Filters (Probably won't be purchasing these, but listed since I did the research on fitment for our bikes)
Kawasaki 16097-1072 is OEM, so I would trust that just about as well as anything else
Filters to avoid:
K&N KN-204 USERS REPORT ISSUES, NOT HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Supertech ST6607(short)/ST7317(long) USERS REPORT ISSUES, NOT HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
FRAM Anything I don't believe Fram makes one of their super-high-end filters for our bikes (the only ones which they make that are good), so stay away from the ones that do fit

Earshave+Rejet (38/135) – NGK Iridiums – MCCT Conversion – Slipstreamer S03 Windshield – Custom Extended Backrest – Custom Highway Bars – MOSFET R/R – LED Underglow – Volt+USB In-Dash – Two-Wire & Blue-Wire Mod – Satin Black Engine Paint – Dampers Parts - Jets: Main=99101-393(#132 stock)/Pilot=n424-22 Pilot(#38 stock)

Been a while since I looked for one, but the K&N number used to be KN-303 or KN-303c (chrome). This was the one with the hex head on the end. Maybe they've changed the number or the filter design?

We needed an updated filter number list.

Note: I'd personally avoid K&N filters. They have been having issues leaking where the nut attaches, even if you didn't use it to tighten. I've seen many people with oil covered rear tires due to it!
