squeal bottom left of egine 86vn750

So i have been fixing some wiring issues on my 86 vn750. I had it on its center stand, had been started and running a couple times minutes before. i go to start it again after playing with the neutral switch wire. it all of a sudden is extremely hard start once it does start low idle allot of hesitation and wierd squealing from the bottm left of engine stator case area !!! shut bike down right away. is it engine ? or stator issue? did i spin a bearing ?

I hate to say this but you may have a bad balancer damper gear. If this happens, the large gear in the left side of the case becomes loose enough to start rubbing and chewing up the inside of the front part of the left case cover...hence the squealing and additional resistance to motor turning over.

I would look into it....dampers are only around 50 bucks, most of the work is labor.....pulling or at least tilting the motor, pulling the side case and removing the gears to replace the rubber dampers. I did this myself last year.

I agree with KC. Should see some black and silver debris in the oil screen.
