Help with starting

Guys
I recently rebuilt the engine. Went to start it today and came up with nothing. Any ideas would be great. It cranks but doesn't start. I checked spark and that was good.

Funny you say that. I just played with it for about 3 hours. Got it running pretty good.

Sounds about right. First start on a carbureted engine is always a fiddle fest

So I spent about 2 hours seaching this forum for help on this. I found out that i ran all the gas lines wrong. that explained the over fill in one cylinder and none in the other. Now I got the bike started. first time it ran for about 1 min then a large puff of smoke came from the exhaust and then i started up again and ran for about 2 minutes straight. Sounded pretty good to for not having an exhaust.

I did that a while ago OleDirtyDoc. I'm new to motorcycles but that about it for me. I live in the Chicago suburbs.

No worries. On another epic failure of mine the front cylinder wasn't firing. Then after about 3 quick startups to troubleshoot I heard a large pop now a lot of rattling from the front cylinder. This project is going on hold for a while. I will be rebuilding the engine this winter now. This sucks.
