V&H Cruzers missing centerstand bracket

Yesterday I got the cruzers in for my '05 and began putting them on. I got all the stock exhaust system out and lo and behold the first step of the install is to mount the center stand bracket, which coincidentally did failed to get put in with all the other parts . So my question is, can I take off the center stand right now and install the exhaust while I wait for V&H to ship me the center stand bracket and THEN later on reinstall the centerstand and bracket with my bike on the kickstand or is the process not backwards compatible? The whole install is supposed to be done with the centerstand up (I'm sure for ease of installment but perhaps that's the only way to install the bracket?). I also do not see the "charcoal canister mount" that is "located in front of the rear tire". I'll attach the directions relevant to this post, maybe that will help for those with more experience on working on the 750 than I. Thanks

1. Place the bike on the center stand.

1. Remove the two bolts from the charcoal canister mount, the canister is located in front of the rear tire. Using the two 6mm x 16mm bolts (supplied) install the centerstand stop bracket, (stamped 205), by aligning the holes in the bracket with the holes in the canister mount. Be sure the bend closest to the holes in the bracket angles towards the rear of the motorcycle and the tang is pointed to the left hand side. Tighten the two 6mm bolts at this time.

Canister is only on California models. If yours isn't one, you won't find it...

There's no reason why you can't remove and or install the center stand any time you want...it's just a lot easier with the exhaust off the bike...so yes, you might have to remove the exhaust again to install the stand.
Not sure if non California models have the mounting holes for the canister...
