Oil change..

Just did an oil change on my '05. gonna try something a little different. I got a hold of some Amalie 10w40, synthetic blend. NOT the motorcycle specific oil they also sell, but auto use.

in the advertising (as well as on the bottle itself), its says 'recommended for high performance motorcycle engines'.

it is NOT JASO certified.

will let ya know if my clutch does anything different over time. Short term report is positive, but then again it always behaves better with fresh oil in it.

Not worried if it starts slipping, I need new frictions/steels/and both baskets anyway

Well if it says "recommended for high performance motorcycle engines" (4 stroke I assume) it should be fine.
Never heard of the company that makes it. Guess I'll ask how much a gallon of that cost you?
Sounds like over kill...as I'm not sure I'd call the Vulcan a "high performance" motorcycle....but I'd go with over kill instead of "under kill" any day..

I been using Rottela synthetic now as a full synthetic is called for in my Bonneville.

Amalie is based in Tampa, if I recall correctly.

they claim to make oils/lubricants for other larger brands.

I got a case of 12 qts for about 41 bucks shipped to the door, straight from their online store.

I also got a case of 5w30 for the wife's car, same price. That oil has that nasty 'resource conserving' in the certification stamp. (the 10w40 does not).

Since I watch a lot of Tampa Bay Lightning hockey (home ice is Amalie Arena), I thought I might as well try it out, and if it works well, support the local economy

yep. Any 10w-40 will work and be safe with wet clutch. I use dino generic oils and change filter and oil before 3k. You'll notice none of the 10w-40s regardless of brand say "resource\energy conserving"

Amalie has been around the race tracks for several decades, it's just not sold in every store like the better known brands.
