Oil level on my 96 vn750

Just bought my first motorcycle my name is Eli and on from central FL. I'm so happy with it and to be part of this community of riders and this forum . I just changed oil on my 96 vulcan 750 it has 4862 miles on it almost mint condition. So I was wondering if the oil is supposed to be in between the high and low lines or just put the recommended 4.2 us quarts it say on the manual. I put 4 quarts and it is over the high Mark on the gauge ,what do I do?

With it on the center stand it should be in between, although I like mine to be closer to the HIGH mark.

in order to lower the level just drain some oil out from underside the bike where the oil pan screw is. be sure its on its center stand, and or held level to check the reading correctly...good luck on your new bike. five thousand miles on a 96 wow...that's a find...

Must see. FIrst lip synch in history. Also we used to think they were saying "Hide your honkus" when we were kids. Made us giggle.
