Cylinder base gasket

Hey all, so I have this 01 vn750 with 8.5k miles. Just started getting the dreaded leak of coolant ontop of the crank case. Looks to be the cylinder gasket. Well my local shop quoted me 11 hrs, well, what all should I have done while he has his hands in there? So far I'm gunna have both cylinder gaskets replaced as well as the stator and it's gasket. $1000 plus parts. Any thoughts, suggestions, or input is appreciated.

I would be absolutely sure you know where the coolant is leaking from. I've had on 2 Vn750s where the coolant will leak from where the hose enters the cylinder. A new O-ring fixed that. $.10 vs $1000 so I would be sure.

Here's a picture of the exact spot I'm talking about.

I've got a coolant leak somewhere, and also suspect the cylinder gasket ... sure glad to have one more spot to check before "the teardown"!

What Luke said. Also, how does your exhaust look and smell? Oil good, no contamination?
Where exactly are you finding coolant, what is the highest point its found at?

I'll check again when I'm over there, but I believe the highest point I found coolant is at the base of the v. Also the oil didn't have any coolant in it. I didn't notice any difference in the exhaust.
