Assortment of problems on a 2006...
I bought the bike roughly 8 months or so ago with 8000 miles on it with all the aftermarket **** done to it by a previous owner two owners ago. So the guy I bought it from had no idea what all was done to it besides the obvious Vance and Hines pipes, ear shave mod, jet kit. Which by the way, the front crank case breather fell off almost right away and the completely exposed air filters get clogged ****less often because the bike is unfortunately stored outside without a cover.
The seller told me the stator was replaced based on the evidence that the wires coming out of the crankcase had been soldered and covered with duct tape. However, it went out at 12000 miles leaving me stranded every 30 or so miles before a necessary full recharge of the battery, which makes my life incredibly inconvenient. Now, just because the stator may have been replaced doesn't exactly mean the tuxedo mod was also installed.
Recently within the past couple months or so, oils been slowly leaking out of the left side of the crankcase, eventually dripping down and covering the bottom of the engine with oil. Oil level in the little window seems unaffected and at the highest mark. No oil pressure light either.
And now as of the past couple weeks, the bike tries to kill itself at stop lights even though I have the idle rpm set to about 1000 and reeks of gas once it inevitable does kill itself. So I have to keep the bike rev'd to about 2000 rpm at all times sometimes. It's not always like this, and I tried to chalk it up to the dirty airfilters; but the problem continues even after cleaning.
The only things I've done to the bike since I've had it is replaced the battery, the two-wire mod, headlight bypass, removed kickstand switch, and gauge cluster/headlight replacement after I crashed once(unfortunately the used odometer reads approx. 19000 miles more than it actually has, but thank God the bike still drives in a straight line).
My questions here are: Why would it be leaking oil out of the stator cover on the crankcase? Is there any quick and easy way to check to see if the tuxedo mod was installed without draining the oil? Why would my bike be bogging down at low RPMs all of a sudden when for about 4000 miles or the first 4 months it ran just fine? Also which is the best stator replacement short notice? I need to have the bike fixed up ASAP because I can hardly do anything in life right now having no other transportation assistance.
